We’ve taken the next step in our decarbonisation journey with a 6.1km electricity distribution line linking the Geita mine to Tanzania’s renewable power grid where energy is generated from hydro, thermal and biomass. The mine’s diesel usage for power generation is expected to drop by an estimated 80% and carbon emissions by at least 50Kt CO2.

  • Scaling mountains, building hope

Each year, a dedicated group of GGML employees and external participants embark on a gruelling climb of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. The funds raised by the event go towards various projects that make a tangible difference to the lives of countless people in Tanzania.
