Gilbert Mworia assumed the role of Senior Manager: Sustainability at Geita Gold Mine on 3 February 2023. With a rich background that encompasses senior management roles, Mworia boasts expertise in areas such as development cooperation, stakeholder relations, project management, strategic planning, advocacy, training, and participatory facilitation. His 20-year tenure in the extractives industry and civil society has equipped him with profound insights and skills.

He holds an Honors Degree in Sociology from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and an International Master of Science in Social Work (IMSSW) from Gothenburg University, Sweden.

Mworia is stationed at the Geita Mine site and in his role, he is responsible for a wide range of sustainability aspects. This includes overseeing community relations and engagement, sustainable investments, corporate social responsibility commitments, land access, tenement management, community grievance mechanisms, and ensuring Geita Gold Mine’s overall social license to operate.
