Janeth is an accomplished geologist with over two decades of extensive technical and management experience in mineral resource management having joined Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML) in 2000 as a Mine Geologist. Over the years, she has built an illustrious career, gaining expertise across various roles within the geology discipline.
Janeth’s leadership extends beyond her technical responsibilities. For the past six years, she has served as a board member of the State Mining Corporation (STAMICO), contributing her knowledge and expertise to the development of Tanzania’s mining sector. She is also a passionate mentor, actively inspiring and guiding young female professionals at Geita to pursue career growth opportunities in the mining industry.
Academically, Janeth holds a Master of Engineering in Mineral Resources Management from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, and a Bachelor of Science in Mineral Science from the University of Zambia. She has further enhanced her credentials with a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management from Regenesys Business School, South Africa, and an Applied Geostatistics Citation from the University of Alberta, Canada. Her leadership qualifications are equally impressive, including a Certificate in Directorship from the Institute of Directors Tanzania (IoDT) and a Certificate in Corporate Governance from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI), earned through the Female Future Programme organized by the Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE). She is also a proud member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).
In her current role, Janeth reports to the Operations Manager at GGML and is responsible for overseeing mine geology and exploration. Her portfolio includes managing open-pit and underground geology, brownfields exploration, resource evaluation, and supporting technical functions—all while ensuring alignment with Geita’s strategic options and Life of Mine (LOM) plan.
