Expanding Access to Quality Education in Geita
At Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML), our education investments support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 5: Gender Equality. By improving access to safe, inclusive learning environments, we are helping young people in Geita gain the knowledge and confidence needed to shape their futures.
Between 2018 and 2025, GGML invested over 20 billion TZS (7.6 million USD) in education initiatives across our host communities. This investment has supported school infrastructure, learning resources, and programmes that encourage students, especially girls, to pursue their ambitions.
Among the schools developed with GGML support are Nyankumbu Girls Secondary School, Maweni Primary School, and Nyakato Secondary School. These schools are helping bring education closer to communities while creating better environments for teaching and learning.

Impact in Action
For students like Hamida Jonas, the impact is personal. Before Nyakato Secondary School was built, many students faced long daily journeys that often led to fatigue and absenteeism. With a school now closer to home, Hamida can focus fully on her studies and participate actively in class. The change has strengthened her confidence and ambition. Today, she dreams of becoming a teacher so she can one day inspire other young learners in her community.
Through education, the possibilities continue to grow. Explore more of our impact stories here.
