Responding to COVID-19
In the effort to make sure employees and contractors work in a safe and healthy environment, management of Geita Gold Mine has put in place strong measures to protect its employees against the COVID-19 pandemic.
A top employer
Geita mine employs over 5,000 individuals both directly and through contractors of which about 98% are Tanzanian nationals. Geita mine was recognised by the Government as Overall Best Performer of the Mining Sector for the 2019/2020 financial year.
Community projects
In Tanzania, community development is one of the material issues to which we are committed. The Geita mine was the first in the country to execute its Corporate Social Responsibility Plan as per the amended Mining Act of 2017.
