Geita Gold Mine recently handed over healthcare facilities at Nyakagomba, contributing to efforts to strengthen local health infrastructure and bring essential services closer to communities across Geita Region, home to more than 3 million people. Geita Gold Mine recently welcomed Tanzania’s National Mine Closure Committee to review our Mine Closure Plan. The engagement reinforces our commitment to responsible mining and to planning for the future throughout the life of the mine. The review covered environmental rehabilitation, health and safety, land management and community wellbeing. Malaria remains a major public health challenge in Tanzania, and Geita continues to carry a significant burden. While the proportion of malaria tests returning positive results in Geita Municipal Council declined from 13% in 2024 to 8.8% in 2025, several wards still record much higher rates, showing why sustained action matters.
