Promoting healthier lifestyles and stronger community connections in Geita was at the heart of the launch of the community police-run club, an initiative sponsored by Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML). Bringing together police officers and members of the Geita community, the run club encourages regular physical activity while creating an engaging platform for the police and the communities they serve to connect beyond their day-to-day interactions. At Bwesure Primary School, GGML has handed over two newly constructed classrooms, creating better learning spaces where students can focus, participate, and learn in a more supportive environment. Good health starts with the everyday habits we learn early in life. Last week, GGML brought dental health education closer to students and teachers at Bugulula Primary School, working alongside health and education professionals to build practical knowledge on caring for teeth and gums. Through demonstrations and interactive learning, students learned how and when to brush their teeth, how to prevent common dental problems, and why seeking professional care early matters. Road safety is not a lesson we learn once. It is a responsibility we must keep reinforcing. Last week, our Road Safety Campaign returned to the Geita community, engaging motorcycle and tricycle drivers alongside students on practical actions that can help keep everyone safer on the road. The sessions covered critical road safety practices, from staying alert and making responsible choices to understanding how to respond when something goes wrong.
