The GGM Kili Challenge 2026 has concluded on a high, reinforcing the power of partnership in advancing HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care in Tanzania.
This year, 42 climbers safely reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, while cyclists completed their journey around Africa’s highest mountain — all without major incidents. Their achievement carried a bigger purpose: mobilising resources and awareness for Tanzania’s national HIV/AIDS response.
The 2026 campaign targeted US$1 million (approximately TSh2.6 billion) for HIV prevention, treatment and care, bringing together government, the private sector, development partners and communities at a time when sustainable domestic health financing is increasingly important.
For Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML), the Kili Challenge reflects a long-term commitment to community health, HIV/AIDS awareness and stronger health systems.
As the teams return home, the mission continues: healthier communities and a Tanzania moving closer to ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.
