Deputy Minister of Minerals and Parliamentary Committee Visit Reinforces Shared Commitment to Sustainable Development

Yesterday, Geita Gold Mine hosted Hon. Dr. Steven L. Kiruswa, Deputy Minister of Minerals, alongside members of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy and Minerals, for discussions on responsible mining, economic development, and community wellbeing.

The visit provided an opportunity to reflect on the positive impact that collaboration between government, communities, and the mining sector can have in creating lasting value for Tanzania. Discussions focused on local economic development, livelihood opportunities, support for small-scale miners, exploration activities, and long-term sustainability beyond the life of the mine.

The delegation recognised the mine’s contribution to national development through tax compliance, localisation and community investment initiatives, while emphasising the importance of ensuring that host communities continue to benefit from mining activities.

At Geita Gold Mine, we believe that responsible mining extends beyond gold production. It is about creating opportunities, strengthening local capacity, supporting livelihoods, and working transparently with stakeholders to deliver shared value.

Through continued partnership with government, communities, and other stakeholders, we remain committed to ensuring that our presence contributes to sustainable socioeconomic development and leaves a positive legacy for future generations.
