Geita Health Day 2026: A Community United for Health

What a day it was! On Saturday, the 11th of July, GGML employees, contractors, families, and community members came together at the GGM Parking Grounds for our annual Geita Health Day, and the energy was simply beautiful.

The programme actually began the evening before, with a moonlight health outreach on 10 July, where community members accessed HIV services through GGML’s partnership with ICAP Global Health. Across the two-day activation, 275 community members benefited from the outreach, with 172 eligible individuals receiving HIV counselling, and testing, and HIV self-test kits distributed to encourage continued testing.

From the 6KM Health Walk to Voluntary Blood Donation, Health Education sessions, and lively entertainment, every activity reflected what we stand for as GGML: care, connection, and commitment to the wellbeing of our people and our home, Geita. In partnership with the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS), the event collected 28 units of blood, while individuals identified through GBV screening received counselling and appropriate referrals for further support.

Our Ag. General Manager, Duan Campbell, was there too, joined by the Director of Health & Safety, the Director for Sustainability, other members of management, the Geita Regional Police Commander, and the Regional Medical Officer, taking part in the walk and mingling with employees and community members throughout the day.
