Isack Senya on Road Safety

Last year, Isack Senya, Manager – Safety & ERT, reminded us that “safety is a collective obligation.” Today, as our Road Safety Awareness Campaign continues, that message matters more than ever.

Every journey brings choices: our speed, attention, vehicle condition, and willingness to speak up. As Isack puts it, “don’t walk past an unsafe act.”

The numbers show why. Around 1.16 million people die on the world’s roads each year, with pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists accounting for more than half of these deaths.

For Isack, prevention starts with the basics: “drive to the conditions at all times.” Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy, never drive under the influence, wear a helmet when riding, and remain alert throughout every journey.

Most importantly, remember that “we all have a right to arrive safely.”

Our everyday choices make the difference. Safe roads start with each of us. What can we do to make Tanzania’s roads safer? Share your thoughts with us on our social media channels and join the road safety conversation.
