Minister of Minerals Praises the Quality of GGML-Supported Projects in Geita

Minister of Minerals Hon. Anthony Mavunde recently visited the girls’ dormitory projects at Nyamwilolelwa and Mtakuja Secondary Schools, supported by Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML) in partnership with local government authorities.

During the visit, the Minister inspected progress at both sites and highlighted the projects as evidence of the positive impact of mining-sector reforms and effective corporate social responsibility investment in surrounding communities.

Geita Regional Commissioner Hon. Martine Shigela also commended the company’s shift from the previous force account model to a contractor-based delivery approach, noting that it has improved project quality, completion rates, and value for communities.

Building on these remarks, GGML Managing Director Ashraf Suryaningrat reaffirmed the company’s appreciation for its strong partnership with the government and emphasised the importance of continually improving how projects are planned, delivered, and monitored.

Looking ahead, the visit also provided useful direction on cost-effectiveness, utility needs and the timely completion of outstanding community commitments. These observations will help strengthen future project delivery and ensure that GGML-supported investments continue to create lasting value for the people of Geita.
