Last weekend, Geita Gold Mining Limited hosted a warm and memorable Iftar gathering that brought together government leaders, religious leaders, employee’s representatives, stakeholders, and members of the community in observance of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Held in a spirit of reflection, gratitude, and fellowship, the event provided an opportunity for guests to come together and break the fast while reaffirming the strong relationships between the Company and its stakeholders. The gathering also reflected GGML’s continued commitment to inclusivity, cultural respect, and meaningful engagement with the communities it serves.

The event was graced by several distinguished leaders, including the Guest of Honour, Hon. Hamad Y. Masauni, the Minister of State, Vice President’s Office (Union & Environment), alongside the Regional Commissioner for Geita, Hon. Martine Rueben Shigella, the Deputy Minister of Minerals, Hon. Dr. Steven L. Kiruswa, religious leaders, local government representatives, and GGML leadership led by the Managing Director, Ashraf Suryaningrat. Speaking during the event, GGML’s Managing Director said the gathering reflected the Company’s values of unity, respect, and partnership with the community.

The Regional Commissioner for Geita commended GGML for continuing to show respect for cultural and religious values while strengthening its ties with the people of Geita. “This gathering is a good example of how partnership between the private sector, government, and the community can be nurtured through mutual respect and shared values. GGML’s gesture demonstrates unity and appreciation for the community during this important season.” .
The Deputy Minister of Minerals, Hon. Dr. Steven Kiruswa also applauded the Company for creating a platform that promotes social cohesion and stakeholder engagement beyond its mining operations. The Minister also commended GGML’s contribution to national development. “It is encouraging to see GGML continue to demonstrate that responsible mining also includes investing in relationships, respecting communities, and supporting important social and cultural moments such as this one. We also acknowledge GGML as one of our key contributors of revenue in the mining sector,” he added.

Delivering remarks as Guest of Honour, Hon. Hamad Y. Masauni praised the initiative as a meaningful gesture that promotes solidarity, goodwill, and national values.
