Uganda Chamber Delegation Visits Geita Gold Mine for Regional Mining Knowledge Exchange

Geita Gold Mine recently hosted a knowledge-sharing site visit by a delegation from the Uganda Chamber of Energy and Minerals, led by H.E. Amb. Col (Rtd) Fred Mwesigye, Uganda High Commissioner to Tanzania.

Delegates described GGM as a world-class benchmark and met with our team to discuss how we promote safety, maintain strong operating discipline, deliver local content commitments, and align with international standards such as the IFC Performance Standards.

Discussions also focused on the future of localisation, including how East African businesses and talent can play a bigger role across borders, and how hands-on knowledge sharing can help close skills gaps in the sector.

In addition, the delegation showed strong interest in our structured approach to community engagement, resettlement, and long-term social stability, with an emphasis on transparency, clear roles, and lasting impact.

Overall, the visit highlights a growing opportunity for East Africa’s mining sector to work together, share expertise, and build regional capacity so mining can continue supporting national development.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this knowledge exchange meaningful!
