A proud Form IV student at Shanta Mine Secondary School in Kasamwa, Geita, Rose is chasing a better future through education. Originally from Mwanza, Rose is the fourth of seven children, all of whom have had the opportunity to go to school. She began her secondary education at Wala Secondary School in Mwanza but decided to transfer to Shanta in Form III and she’s never looked back.
“I came to Shanta because I wanted a better school experience,” Rose says. “And I’ve found it here.”
Since Form I, Rose has been a boarding student. But she says the boarding experience at Shanta is very different and much better than at her previous school.“ At Shanta, I have more time to study,” she explains. “We have good teachers, a safe place to stay, and we support each other.”
Reaching new academic heights
That extra time and support have already made a big difference in her academic performance. “During my last exams, I got Division 3. Now, I’m a Division 2 student and I’m very proud of that.”
As a science student, Rose is working hard in subjects that require focus and discipline. She believes that staying in boarding gives her the quiet and structure she needs to succeed.
She dreams to continue her studies and build a career that makes a difference just like the school has done for her.
