Godison’s journey in education began in 2015 at Geita Secondary School, where he first experienced the challenges and rewards of shaping young minds. In 2019, he moved to Nyanza Secondary, sharpening his leadership skills. By 2023, he was appointed Headmaster of Nyakato Secondary School, a role he stepped into with both responsibility and vision.
He was focused on the mission for Nyakato to be the center of opportunity, safety, and achievement for the children of Nyakato and nearby villages. Godison acknowledges that in Sukuma culture, there is a huge reliance on girls to assist with household chores such as cooking, farming, and caregiving. This tradition impacts girls’ study time and performance, making them more likely to lag behind academically despite potential.
Under his leadership, teachers now dedicate extra hours, working until 10:00 p.m., and students have evening classes from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Parents are closely involved, and his open-door approach has built trust. Students feel comfortable sharing personal concerns and parents know they are partners in the school’s success.
